We’ve clearly created a bit of buzz and got ourselves some exciting coverage. Here’s our full press release below; thanks to our friends at Campaign for running this.

Birmingham based Orb feel the Commonwealth Games effect with multiple new business wins.

Birmingham-based branding agency Orb has announced a summer of new business wins across multiple industries including sport, energy, wellness and drinks, inspired by the forthcoming Commonwealth games coming to the city.

The agency — which had already secured more than £2.5m in new project work only halfway through 2021 — has now been engaged to build awareness for two more major sporting events for the region — the IBSA Blind Games in August 2023 and the World Trampolining and DMT Championships in November 2023.

The IBSA Games, due to take place from 18–27 August 2023 are the largest high-level international event for athletes with visual impairments, with more than 1000 competitors from more than 70 nations.

The 2023 World Trampoline, Tumbling & DMT Gymnastics Championships will be the first major sports event to come to the city following the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Orb has also won an on-going contract for a major brand building campaign for one of the world’s leading battery manufacturers — GS Yuasa. The Japanese brand specialises in the development and production of lead acid and lithium-ion batteries, used in automobiles, motorcycles and other areas including aerospace and defense applications all over the world. Although a stalwart for professionals, GS Yuasa is relatively unknown amongst consumers. Orb has been tasked with raising global awareness for the company’s front line customers.

James Douglas, European Group Marketing Manager for YUASA said:

“Working with agencies isn’t something we tend to do, however our experience with Orb was unlike anything we’ve encountered before. The team took the time to fully understand our brand, our customers, and our aims. Being part of the creative journey was fun, eye-opening and inspiring, and over the course of the three days we felt central to the process and part of the team.

Douglas added: “Not only did we develop some hard-hitting campaign ideas, but we also explored our marketing messaging in fine detail and uncovered the story our brand has to tell. We’ve already started to implement these messages into our marketing activity.”

The agency has also scooped the brand and digital brief for Healthshare — one of the largest providers nationally of integrated community-based care working with the NHS, helping to bring high-quality care closer to people. The contract will run until 2022.

Other wins include brand and digital transformation work for weight loss brand Healthier Weight and brand and performance marketing for plant based energy drink Kayu. These clients will be working with Orb from August 2021.

Robert Bloxham, chief executive and founder at Orb said: “It has been a remarkable summer so far for Orb, with some exciting and varied briefs. We’re delighted to be promoting what Birmingham has to offer plus helping put a major Japanese brand firmly on the map here in the UK.”
